CSC Force Support: Load Cell Instruments for Product Testing

load cell instrumentsWhen it comes to force measurement testing for industry, the focal point of any accurate weighing system is the load cell. At CSC Force Measurement, we work with some of the best branded load cells in the business to provide our customers with everything they need to create a force measurement system that is tailored to their unique needs and specifications. As a stocking distributor for some of the biggest names in the business, including Mark-10, Chatillon, CDI, Dillon, Lloyd Instruments, and Mecmesin products, we work with each client to provide them with the consultation support to ensure that they get the tension and compression for sensors and load cell instruments they require to support their manufacturing and testing demands.

What You Need to Know

A load cell is a form of force transducer. It converts the amount of force that is exerted during testing, including tension and compression, into an electrical signal. The strength of the signal that is received is directly proportionate to the amount of force that is applied onto the load cell instruments. The load cell is the heart of any force measurement system, as it is the most crucial element of the instrument that does the actual measurement of force. There are many different options available in the way of load cells for tension and compression force sensors, including push/pull sensors and miniature force sensors, depending on the requirements of the operation. When force is applied to the load cell body, the amount of force can be calculated by the instruments using the change in resistance.

CSC Force Measurement provides load cell instruments from Mark-10 and Chatillon to offer our customers all of the options they need for their force measurement system specifications. Some of the popular options include the Chatillon Series SLC Loadcells and the Mark-10 Series FS05 Tension and Compression Force Sensors with Plug & Test Technology. We also carry load cells that are designed to be used with specific testing equipment, as well as options for compression-only testing, miniature force sensors for small product testing, and the Mark-10 Series R05 push/pull sensor for general lifting or tension/compression requirements. A variety of capacities are available, depending on the product that you choose, and there are a variety of software options available, as well as calibration services offered, to ensure you get the accurate and repeatable results that you require.

Product Showcase: Mark-10 Miniature Force Sensors
Customers who require capacities ranging from .25 pounds up to 100 pounds may be interested in the Series R04 smart sensors from Mark-10. These smaller tension and compression force sensors are excellent for applications that feature tight space constraints. Extremely compact, these load cell instruments feature threaded holes on two sides, which are designed to accept a variety of hooks and implements to accommodate all of your testing needs. Compatible with Mark-10 indicators, including 3i, 5i, and 7i, which are also sold separately through CSC Force Measurement, these cells can be utilized with the popular Plug & Test technology system. NIST-traceable certificate of calibration is included, and ISO17025 calibration is available with purchase from CSC Force Measurement.

Similar to the Mark-10 Series load cell instruments, the products available from Chatillon are designed to work with their own branded equipment and force measurement system options. The Chatillon SLC Series loadcells are full-bridge strain gauge sensors complete with a 15-pin plug and can be used with the Chatillon DFS II-R-ND Series digital indicator and TCD Series digital force testers via the company’s own Plug & Play Operation feature. Accuracy is up to 0.25 percent of full-scale capacity, and, similar to the Mark-10 products, CSC Force Measurement supply the ISO17025 calibration certification with the purchase, and the manufacturer supplies the NIST calibration with data. The brand that you choose will depend on other elements that you have in your force measurement system.
