Description

The Mark-10 Series 7 (M7) digital force gauges are designed to include a variety of top-level features to provide options for even the most demanding measurement applications for tension and compression, up to 500 lbF [2500 N]. The M7 is blazingly fast and delivers an industry-leading sampling rate of up to 14,000 Hz. Not only does it perform extremely quick-action tests, but it also produces reliable results.

The Mark-10 Series 7 Professional includes all of the functions available in the Series 5 gauges, but with several additional features. One of the most advantageous features is high-speed continuous data capture and storage, with memory for up to 5,000 readings and at an acquisition rate of up to 14,000 Hz. Other features include break detection, programmable footswitch sequencing, and 1st/2nd peak detection.

The user can choose between a coefficient of friction unit of measurement or a user-defined unit of measurement. The Mark-10 Series 7 digital force gauge also features automatic data output, data storage, averaging, external trigger, and zeroing functions upon completion of break detection for even more productivity enhancement. The Series 7 professional gauges are all directly compatible with Mark-10 test stands to permit functions such as break testing, compression testing, PC control capability, tensile testing, dynamic load holding, and other essential applications.

The Mark-10 Series 7 (M7) digital force gauge also includes the powerful data acquisition software MESUR™ Lite. This software can be used to tabulate continuous or single-point data. An option that allows for one-click export to Microsoft Excel allows the user to further manipulate the received data. The tester also comes with a Resource CD that includes the MESUR™ Lite software, MESUR™gauge and MESUR™gauge Plus software 90-day trial, and a user’s guide.

Standard features of the Mark-10 Series 7 (M7) professional digital force gauge include:

  • high-speed 14,000 Hz sampling rate
  • accuracy rate of ± 0.1% of full scale
  • individual data point memory for up to 5,000 data points, downloadable to a PC
  • USB, RS-232, Mitutoyo, and analog output options
  • sample break detection with auto functions, to include stopping movement on the Mark-10 ESM303 test stand
  • 1st/2nd peak detection
  • automatic output/data storage/zeroing upon various event completions
  • programmable footswitch command string
  • programmable set points, including indicators and outputs
  • five selectable units of measurement, plus Coefficient of Friction, and user-defined units with configurable naming
  • averaging mode – calculates average readings over time
  • external trigger mode – for switch contact testing or to remotely stop display update
  • password protection, configurable for individual keys and calibration

Hardware options for the Mark-10 Series 7 (M7) digital force gauge include:

  • a wide range of Mark-10 test stands and gripping fixtures
  • MESUR™ gauge software (15-1004)
  • output cables to send data to PC, statistical printer, or other data collector for further analysis
  • eye end adapters for quick grip installation and removal
  • footswitch – user can perform up to three consecutive gauge functions with one footswitch activation
  • mounting plate for mounting Mark-10 gauges to a fixture or testing system

Included Accessories

The Mark-10 Series 7 (M7) digital force gauge comes with a variety of useful accessories. An extension rod, for use between a force gauge and another attachment or grip. A coupling, which is used between force gauges, test stands, grips, and attachments. A hook, which is ideal for use with pull tests. Assorted pieces also include a cone, chisel, V-groove, and flat piece, all used for testing different types of samples.

Specialized Gauge Functions:

  • High-Speed Data Capture & Storage – The Mark-10 Series 7 has the ability to capture and store up to 5,000 continuous data points at an industry-leading rate of up to 14,000 readings per second. This unique function is ideal for short-duration applications, such as capturing switch activation forces or sharp breaks. The data acquisition rate is variable, which means it can be slowed to capture longer events, such as material expansion or structure relaxation. This digital force gauge series features a configurable start and stop trigger option and is designed to replace cumbersome and more expensive data acquisition hardware and software. Data from the storage can be exported quickly and efficiently to data collection software, such as the popular MESUR™gauge for further analysis and graphing.
  • Footswitch Command String – The Series 7 professional digital force gauge from Mark-10 allows the user to integrate footswitch and automation systems to improve testing ergonomics and efficiency. With the Series 7, there is no need for multiple key presses, as up to three steps may be programmed using a single footswitch activation. Choose from several specific commands, including zero display, save to memory, request peak reading, and much more. The user can even insert time delays between each step for even more control.
  • Automatic Data Output, Save, Zero, I/O Pin Toggle – The Mark-10 Series 7 digital force gauge can perform productivity-enhancing functions after the completion of several event types. This includes automatically saving the peak reading to memory, transmitting the peak reading via USB, RS-232, or Mitutoyo output, and zeroing the display to stop the movement of an ESM303 test stand. Some of the applicable events that allow this function include sample break detection, completion of an averaging sequence, external trigger, and 1st/2nd peak capture.
  • User-Defined Unit of Measurement – Another advantage of the Series 7 digital force gauges is the ability to display six standard units of measurement. One additional user-defined unit is provided to allow for unique applications. The base unit is specified, along with a multipler and a five-character name. Typical applications that are completed using this feature include measuring the torque produced by pressing on a lever in a mechanical assembly, configuring the multipler based on the length of the lever, and converting a unit such as N into Ncm. Another example would be measuring the pressure produced by a circular compression plate on a foam sample, configuring the multiplier based on the area of the plate, and then converting lbF into psi for a user-defined unit of measurement.
